6 000 birds, on the only day of 25 of december, placed in cardboard boxes and aimed toward a LPO first aid center. LPO, Ligue pour la Protectoin des Oiseaux, or League for Birds Protection, is an affiliate of Birdlife International, which acts in France.

17 150 birds found.
Thousands of them dispached by plane
to United Kingdom, Belgium and Nederlands to be treated.
5 240 dead birds found.

LPO opened several first aid centers in the last days to accommodate and to treat weak and frozen birds (oil destroys pens thermical protection). The look like chewing gum oil will make necessary to wash birds 3 times with 24 hours of rest between 2 washings. Ingested oil implies a heavy medical treatment and birds will have to be feeded several days with a gastric probe.

Birds will be kept in centers 10 to 30 days : several hundreds of kg of fish will be necessary every day. Antibiotics, anti-haemorhagics, antiseptics, vitamins, soaps, gloves, boots, clothes and much more ... all of that has to be bought and exceeds from far LPO'budget.
